Unaccompanied Minors
Overview

 

 

Philippine Airlines offer Unaccompanied Minors (UM) and Young Passengers Traveling Alone (YPTA) services for children traveling without their parent or legal guardian who is at least 18 years old.  

Age and Flight Restrictions for children traveling alone:

Required to have Unaccompanied Minor Service.
Allowed only for foreign nationals.

13 to 17 years old Allowed.
Optional to have Unaccompanied Minor Service.

 *Departing From The PH Notes:

1. PH Passport holders – Secure travel clearance from DSWD
2. Foreign Passport holders - Must check with their respective embassies for any applicable requirements.

 

 

Unaccompanied Minor Service Fee (UMSF) 

Unaccompanied Minor Service Fee (UMSF) will be assessed per sector, charged at 100% of the adult fare, and paid at the time the ticket is issued. 

An Unaccompanied Minor badge shall be provided in the airport of departure for proper identification together with a special Unaccompanied Minor envelope containing all related travel documents. 

For partially used tickets where child’s fare was originally assessed, tickets will be reissued to reflect the full fare of the remaining coupons. Additional fare/taxes will be collected on top of the Unaccompanied Minor Service Fee (UMSF). 


Unaccompanied Minor Service Fee (UMSF) is refundable for the following cases: 

 
a. Passenger does not want to push thru with the flight 
b. An accompanying adult is available 
c. Passenger rebooks flight and turns 12 years of age on the new flight date 
d. Flight disruptions/cancellations

REQUIREMENTS UNACCOMPANIED MINORS TRAVELING WITHIN THE PHILIPPINES

 

Airline Requirements

Note: Unaccompanied Minors must be accompanied to the airport of departure and to be met by an airline representative. The parent or guardian may only accompany the child/minor until the airport terminal entrance. A parent or guardian who wish to accompany children/minor inside the airport terminal on the day of the child/minor’s flight may make a request for a Terminal Pass from the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) ID and Pass Control Division.

Government Requirements 

2. For International travel, Philippine Passport holders must secure an “authority to travel” clearance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Notes:   


3. Children/minors travelling to and from Davao are not allowed to travel alone without valid reason or without the following: 

  • Clearance issued by the Punong Barangay; or  
  • Permit to travel certification coming from the City Social Services and Development Office, City of Davao.

  • Passport or ID of the minor’s parents and/or authorized guardian in the Philippines

NOTE: Unvaccinated, partially vaccinated, and those whose vaccination status cannot be verified are not Allowed to travel to the Philippines
